One of the many big films that got shunted from the summer of 2012 to the early part of 2013 was Bryan Singer?s Jack The Giant Killer. In the case of this one, a trailer was released, but eventually Warner Bros figured it best to move the film back to March 2013. It moved it to a date that Paramount would also target with its own delayed blockbuster, G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Things have been quiet on the Jack The Giant Killer front ever since, but now we have some progress on the project.
Firstly, the film now has a new name. It?s gone from Jack The Giant Killer to Jack The Giant Slayer. It?s still a fantasy adventure that follows Jack (of beanstalk vintage) opening up the world to a race of angry giants, and then having to stop them. Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci and Ewan McGregor lead the cast.
Furthermore, the film?s release date has now moved forward again. It?s gone from March 22nd 2013 to March 1st 2013, which puts it head to head in the US with the terrific-looking Stoker.
We?re really quite looking forward to Jack The Giant Slayer (although it'll be interesting to see why they changed one word - will it make that much difference? Do slayers play better than killers at the box office?). Don?t be surprised if another trailer is just around the corner?
